SPOKANE — Continuing his return from a slight shoulder injury, Emerson Hancock turned in a quality performance, but the Everett AquaSox bullpen faltered late in a 5-2 loss to the Spokane Indians on Wednesday night at Avista Stadium.

Hancock, who missed nearly a month resting a sore shoulder, tossed 3.2 strong innings, allowing only one run on two hits while striking out three and walking one. Nate Fisher entered in relief and also turned in a solid performance. Fisher allowed no runs on only one hit in 3.1 innings while striking out a pair.

But the AquaSox’s strong pitching performance hit a wall in the bottom of the eighth inning. Leading 2-1, Igor Januario allowed three earned runs and Nolan Hoffman allowed another as the Indians rallied for a 5-2 lead and the win.

Everett (51-28) was held to just three total hits in the game. Connor Hoover hit a solo home run, his 10th of the season, Dariel Gomez doubled and Joseph Rosa had a base hit.

Colton Welker went 2-for-4 with a home run, and Isaac Collins and Ezequiel Tovar each drove in two runs for Spokane (39-41).
