AquaSox can’t dig out of early hole in loss the Indians

EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox fell behind by three runs after one inning and could not make up the difference in a 4-1 loss to the Spokane Indians on Friday night at Funko Field.

Eddy Diaz hit a solo home run and Zac Veen and Drew Romo both scored on an RBI groundout by Bladimir Restituyo in the first inning as Spokane jumped out to a 3-0 lead.

The Indians added a run in the fith on an RBI single from Veen.

The AquaSox plated their lone run in the game on an RBI single from Andy Thomas on the bottom of the eighth inning.

Thomas finished 2-for-2, but the Everett (6-12) offense was held to just six hits in the game.

Jimmy Joyce started on the mound for the AquaSox and allowed four runs over six innings while striking out nine and walking one.

Diaz and Veen both had two hits for Spokane (10-9).
