AquaSox’s Mercedes tosses 7-inning no-hitter vs. Emeralds

EVERETT — Juan Mercedes pitched a seven-inning no-hitter and struck out 10 batters to lead the Everett AquaSox to a 5-0 win over the Eugene Emeralds on Tuesday evening at Funko Field.

Mercedes walked just two in the 98-pitch gem.

Alberto Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Victor Labrada had a triple for the Everett (20-25) offense.

Casey Schmitt and Patrick Bailey were the only players from Eugene (22-19) to reach base in the game.

AquaSox lose resumed game

Earlier in the evening Everett fell 5-4 in the completion of a suspended game with Eugene from April 10.

Making a rehab appearance with the AquaSox, Seattle Mariners utility player Abraham Toro went 2-for-2 with two RBI.
