Sean Paddock selected as Mill Creek’s newest council member

MILL CREEK — The newest Mill Creek City Council member begins work Tuesday.

Sean Paddock will serve in Position 7, succeeding Mark Bond, who departed in June after an 18-year council tenure.

The City Council appointed Paddock on Sept. 6 following interviews with him and four other finalists. Paddock will serve through the November 2023 election. If he wants to remain in office, he will need to run in next year’s elections.

“I believe my communication and working style will foster and enhance a positive and collaborative working relationship amongst the community, Council, and between Council and the City Manager,” Paddock said in a statement issued through the city.

Paddock, who works for Dell Technologies, served on the city planning commission for the 14 months prior to his council appointment.

In December, he sought to fill a vacancy in the state House created when then-Rep. John Lovick, D-Mill Creek, got appointed to the Senate.

Though Paddock was the top choice of Democratic precinct committee officers in the 44th Legislative District, the Snohomish County Council opted to appoint Brandy Donaghy of Everett to the House post. Donaghy, who snagged the second most votes in the PCO election, is seeking to retain her legislative seat in the November election.
