Silvertips fall to rival Thunderbirds in OT

KENT — Kyle Crnkovic scored midway through the third period to tie the game, and Gracyn Sawchyn potted the game-winner just 2 minutes into overtime as the Seattle Thunderbirds rallied for a 2-1 win over the rival Everett Silvertips on Saturday night at ShoWare Center.

The loss was the Silvertips’ third straight after returning from a long road trip, and their first overtime or shootout defeat of the season.

After a scoreless first period, Roan Woodward gave Everett the lead with a goal on assists from Eric Jamieson and Olen Zellweger at 4:52 in the second. The goal was Woodward’s second of the season.

Braden Holt started in goal and stopped 28 of 30 shots for Everett (12-7-1-0).

Thomas Milic made 21 saves on 21 shots for Seattle (13-3-1-0).

The Silvertips return to the ice when the host Portland at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Angel of the Winds Arena.
