Monroe man dead in Saturday’s fatality collision on US 2

EVERETTOne man died in a two-vehicle fatality collision Saturday evening east of Monroe.

At 5:48 p.m. Saturday, Washington State Patrol responded to reports of a collision that closed U.S. 2 near milepost 20. Gavin Wright, 22, of Monroe, was headed east on Fern Bluff Road before crossing the center line into oncoming traffic and striking a vehicle heading west, a press release said.

First responders pronounced Wright deceased at the scene, the release said. First responders transported the second driver, a 59-year-old man, to EvergreenHealth Monroe for undisclosed injuries.

Drugs or alcohol are believed to be contributing factors to the crash, the release said.
