Lynnwood: Speaker to discuss autism

Becky Blake, owner of Baby Power Forever Kids, will discuss a special approach to working with kids with autism, learning and developmental problems from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 6, at Puget Sound Autism Services, 5105 200th St. SW Suite 100, Lynnwood.

Monroe: YMCA showcases local art

Instead of lifting weights or hitting the stationary bike, visitors to the Monroe/Sky Valley Family YMCA can learn about paper-making and floral design during Y Arts Week.

From Monday to Oct. 11, the YMCA will showcase arts programming.

Offerings include a recorder workshop, a cartoon drawing event and a community mural event. Local artists also will show their work and host demonstrations.

The YMCA is located at 14033 Fryelands Blvd.
