Riverside Square in Everett will host a show for its resident artists Byron Bratt, whose Old World printmaking hangs in museums, and Sue Ellen Longwell, who has mastered the use of salt and hidden images in her watercolors, which hang in Europe, Africa and Egypt.
The artists are longtime tenants at Riverside Square, an old medical and surgical supply building ,which recently closed. Bratt has been there for 20 years and Longwell 16 years.
This special three-day art show runs from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 12 at Riverside Square, 2909 Hewitt Ave., Everett. Buck’s American Cafe will cater the event.
“The Big Little Show”: The live auction for the Arts of Snohomish gallery’s “Big Little Show” is finally here.
The gala party with a live auction, live music and wine will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Arts of Snohomish, 105 Cedar Ave., Snohomish.
This fifth annual event holds artists to the parameters of “small,” meaning that no art can be larger than 12 inches in any dimension. All art is created by local artisans in many types of 2-D and 3-D media.
This event is the Arts of Snohomish gallery only fundraiser during the year. The proceeds are used to benefit the community by hosting such shows as the 4-H project art exhibit and other community events.
The hard stuff: Colin Lambert usually shows large public pieces. But at this show, Lambert’s more intimate works are on view in “Eternal Circle.”
The exhibit opens with a reception from 5 to 8 tonight at The Rob Schouten Gallery at Greenbank Farm, 765 Wonn Road, Whidbey Island. Light refreshments will be served and Kristi O’Donnell and Keith Bowers of a gypsy jazz group will play “Vieux est Nouveau.” The show runs through Jan. 30.
Holiday sparkle: Art in Great Spaces presents “A Holiday Art Fair,” where leading local artists offer selections of jewelry, glass, quilts, collages, pottery and wearable art for holiday gifts.
The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Saturday along Wetmore Avenue between the 2800 and 2831 blocks in downtown Everett.
This will be the last big event for the artists on this corner of downtown before they close the doors on Dec. 22.
“Coastal Wanderings” is a watercolor art show featuring the new series of glowing landscape paintings by artist Kim Caldwell.
This series of work on handmade paper glimmers on gold and silver gesso-prepared surfaces, adding a rich patina and extra depth.
“The gold and silver undertones of my new series add an exciting nuance to my work that I am thrilled with,” said Caldwell, a 23-year veteran of the canvas who teaches at Dreamscape Studio in Mountlake Terrace.
Patrons can meet Caldwell at an artists reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Gallery North, 508 Main St., Edmonds, or at the Edmonds Art Walk from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec 17. Refreshments will be served at both events. “Coastal Wanderings” will be on display through Dec. 31.
