Arlington: Forum set on school budgets

The Arlington School Board wants to know the priorities of district residents in the face of a possible $5 million revenue shortfall in the next school year.

The board is preparing to make staff and program cuts.

The community forum is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington High School, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.

Marysville: Students to plant trees today

Around 100 fourth- and fifth-graders from the Marysville Cooperative Education Program at Quilceda Elementary School plan to plant trees today in honor of Earth Day.

Project SeaWolf Coastal Protection is working with the Snohomish Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Marysville School District and Coastal Keys Realty to organize the event. The students are scheduled to plant 1,500 native firs, cedars and dogwoods on Jones Creek, an 11-acre parcel of wetland in the Allen-­Quilceda Creek watershed.

City schedules egg hunt at Jennings Park

The city is planning its annual Easter Egg Hunt for Saturday.

The event is scheduled for 10 to 11 a.m. at Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road.

Thousands of candy-filled eggs will be hidden for children ages 8 and younger. Participants will be divided into age groups.

All participants are asked to bring a can of food for the Marysville Food Bank. The hunt is co-sponsored by Marysville State Farm agents and Grandview Village.

Silvana: Cookbook concentrates on dairy

No margarine or frozen whipped topping allowed.

The nonprofit Washington State Dairy Women organization is compiling a cookbook that the women plan to sell as a fundraiser. In Snohomish County, Tammi Schoenbachler is collecting recipes, which must include at least one dairy product. The deadline to submit a recipe is May 1.

Stanwood: Ready Readers concert set

In celebration of Ready Readers Month, the Stanwood Library has scheduled children’s entertainer Nancy Stewart for a read-and-sing event set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the library, 9701 271st St. NW.
