Boeing says it has assembled the first set of wings for its new 747-8 Freighter.

From the press release:

The new 135-foot 3-inch (41.2 m) wings incorporate the latest aerodynamic technologies to fly farther and more efficiently. The advanced airfoil provides improved overall performance and greater fuel capacity.

Last year, Boeing delayed the first delivery of its upgraded 747 citing the Machinists’ strike, delays in transferring engineers from the 787 to the 747 program and engineering changes.
