MARYSVILLE — A woman looking for a ride Tuesday night was hit on the back of the head with a pistol and had to be taken to the hospital.

The handgun may have fired during the assault, but the woman was not shot, Marysville police Lt. Jeff Goldman said.

Police were called about 8 p.m. to the 7-Eleven in the 1100 block of State Avenue to reports of gunfire, he said.

They found the Marysville woman there, and she told them her version of what happened.

She told police she had been to the Taco Bell at Seventh Street and State Avenue when she recognized a man in a gold truck, Goldman said. She asked for a ride in the truck with the man and another man, a passenger.

When the truck got to the 7-Eleven, the woman tried to climb out over the passenger and was hit in the head with the pistol, police said. She was able to get out and ran into the convenience store to get help.

The woman was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for her injuries, Goldman said.

Investigators believe the truck drove off. Police were not able to immediately track it down.

Police ask anyone with information to call 360-363-8326.
