Ellington returning (updated)

The Tips received some good news this afternoon as the Vancouver Canucks announced that they’ve reassigned defenseman Taylor Ellington to Everett. There was always the concern that Ellington, Everett’s top D-man, might impress enough to earn a pro shot in the minors, since he’s in his 20-year-old season. The Tips were always of the belief Ellington would be sent back, but you never know for sure what’s going to happen. Everett also caught a break in that Ellington wasn’t sent to camp with Vancouver’s AHL affiliate in Manitoba, which might have delayed his return another two weeks.

I don’t know when Ellington will get back into Everett’s lineup. However, it’s a short drive down from Vancouver, so I wouldn’t be shocked if ended up in the lineup tonight against Portland.

Ellington’s return leaves just left wing Kyle Beach away at an NHL camp. Beach is set to suit up for the Chicago Blackhawks tonight in exhibition play, so he won’t be back for this weekend’s games.

—- UPDATE 6 p.m.

Just thought I’d let people know that Ellington is not in the lineup tonight.

On a side note, Beach managed to get in a fight in his first shift of NHL action. Go figure.
