Picture this: With the free outdoor artists Fresh Paint festival at the Everett Marina this weekend, there’s gads of art to behold. But here’s a free art event that’s purr-fect for animal lovers.
On Saturday the Solovei Art Gallery is having a special presentation by the local Animal Rescue Foundation to coincide with the gallery’s current exhibit, “Roaring and Purring.”
The gallery is open from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at 2804 Grand Ave., Everett. The Animal Rescue Foundation’s presentation starts at 3p.m.
The event is free and refreshments are provided. Donations for the Everett Animal Shelter and Animal Rescue Foundation are also accepted.
Foundation volunteer coordinator Jamie Dahlgren and Hilary Hager, activities coordinator from the Everett Animal Shelter, will be talking about the work the foundation and the Everett Animal Shelter do in the community and also will talk about what the new Everett animal shelter, opening soon, will offer in Snohomish County.
There will also be a raffle for a “cat basket” as a prize.
And there will be kittens for viewing and possible adoption.
Animal lovers might also consider placing an order for a commissioned pet portrait by artists who are displaying animal art work at the Solovei exhibit, which includes serious and whimsical cat portraits, oil and acrylic paintings, drawings, collages, photography and much more.
The “Roaring and Purring” exhibit runs through Aug. 30.
