Arlington: Openings on commissions

Volunteers are needed to fill two vacant seats on city of Arlington commissions.

A position is open on both the airport and planning commissions.

Commissions guide city decisions, often by exploring matters before referring them to the City Council.

The Airport Commission term expires on April 1, 2010, and the Planning Commission term expires April 1, 2009.

Commission members must live within the Arlington city limits.

Applications are available on the city’s Web site at www.ci.arlington.wa.us and can also be picked up at City Hall or at the Airport Office.

Council workshop to discuss city issues

The Arlington City Council plans a workshop at 7 p.m. tonight to discuss several issues facing the city.

The council plans to discuss the Transfer of Development Rights program, possible budget amendments and the city’s finances, among other issues.

The meeting will be held in City Council Chambers, 110 E. Third St.

The council does not plan to take any votes at the workshop.

Marysville: Small parcel could join city

The city of Marysville is expected tonight to approve a small addition of land to the city.

A 1.27 acre vacant lot at the northwest corner of 48th Drive NE and 96th Street NE, owned by Calvary Chapel, would go into Marysville.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave.

Calvary’s church building adjoins the lot and is within the city limits. The church is planning to expand and requested that the parcel be added to the city limits for consistency.

The parcel is valued by Snohomish County at $329,900.

Stanwood: Comment on water plan

People can comment on the city’s plan to conserve water at an upcoming public hearing.

The hearing on the city’s water use efficiency rule is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Stanwood Fire Station at 8117 267th St. NW.

The forum, presented by the Stanwood Public Works Department, gives people a chance to weigh in on the city’s water conservation plan before it’s sent to the City Council for possible approval.

The city of Stanwood serves water to roughly 1,600 households and businesses.
