50 years ago (1958)
Everett Junior College president Fred Giles, football coach Walt Price and basketball coach Paul Blowers opened the new gymnasium doors for a preview tour. The official opening was tonight when the Trojans met the Yakima Valley Indians.
Carol Wailes and her daughter, Patty, 3, scanned through one of the volumes in the set of Encyclopedia Americana she won at the Home and Boat Show at the Armory last week.
25 years ago (1983)
Outstanding employee award winners recently announced by the state Department of Social and Health Services for the area included Clayton Kick, Joanne Myers and Jane Hawkins, Region 3, Everett; Martha Gray, Norman Nelson and Don Sawyer, Everett Community Service Office; Marjorie Bennion, Mountlake Terrace Community Service Office; and Marie Anderson, Skagit-Island counties.
Nancy Roney’s floral and landscape watercolors were on display at the Art Council Gallery on Colby Avenue. When Karen Charnell, head of the gallery, visited Roney’s Everett home for a facial, she saw Roney’s paintings and signed her up for a show.
