Common political labels aren’t accurate

Most people understand the opposite of the right shoe is the left shoe. That of the right hand is the left hand. The opposite of the right side is the left side, etc.

As strange as it seems, like the media in general, many people refer to the Republican Party as the religious right, or right wing, but describe the Democratic Party not as the anti-religious left wing, which it is, but as the much softer term, liberal.

Apparently it will come as a surprise to those claiming to be liberal or progressive, that the opposite is conservative or traditional.
