Slow day

Not much to report today. Matt Ius was back on the ice and may be ready to return from his hip injury tomorrow against Kelowna, though Tyler Skauge’s still sidelined with his concussion. I got my first chance to chat with Clayton Bauer today. Look for the story on him in tomorrow’s paper.

Speaking of Kelowna, I’m really looking forward to seeing the Rockets again tomorrow. It seems they’ve put their difficult season well behind them and are really playing well. With so many impact 17- and 18-year-olds on its roster, I figured Kelowna was going to be fantastic next season. But the Rockets seem intent on being a year early. I also want to get a closer look at Kelowna defensemen Luke Schenn and Tyler Myers. I don’t know if I’ll have to opportunity to focus on those two because I’ll have to follow the game as a whole, but I am curious to see if I can understand why the Central Scouting Bureau ranked Myers ahead of Schenn in its preliminary WHL rankings. Myers has good size and some potential, but I think Schenn is special.
