Helping hands needed at slough
People for Puget Sound’s final fall planting restoration day is Saturday at Everett’s Union Slough.
Workers are needed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To get directions and let the group know you are willing to help, call Keeley O’Connell at 360-336-1931 or e-mail koconnell@pugetsound.org.
Volunteers will plant native trees and shrubs to help restore the site. People for Puget Sound will provide the tools, training and cheers.
Support Granite Falls seniors
The Granite Falls Senior Center’s annual rummage sale is planned for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday at 302 S. Granite Ave., Granite Falls.
Foundation offers community grants
The Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation provides community grants to groups that benefit the residents of Stanwood and Camano Island.
Grant applications are due to the foundation by Oct. 31.

Northwest fur trade history revealed
The history of the fur trade in the Pacific Northwest will be discussed at 3:30 p.m. today at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace.
Storyteller Karen Haas will use songs, stories and artifacts from traders to present “Back to the Fur Trade.”
Lynnwood offers lifesaving skills
Learn basic lifesaving skills and how to use an automated external defibrillator at a class offered by the city of Lynnwood.
The $25 class is planned for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Lynnwood Fire Station 15, 18800 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
