Classics wanted for car show

The city of Mill Creek is seeking owners of classic and exotic cars to take part in a car show before the Aug. 11 concert in the park featuring The New Blues Brothers.

Participants can bring their cars to City Hall between 5:30 and 6 p.m. and show off their cars. The event isn’t an official car show, so there are no entry fees.

To participate contact Sherrie at 425-921-5717 or Chris at 425-921-5736 by July 6 so a parking spot can be reserved.

Rescue Pup needs help after burglary

Rescue Pup, a Mill Creek-based non-profit organization that finds homes for stray sick and injured dogs, regularly needs donations to cover veterinary expenses.

The need is especially critical as the organization recovers from a burglary on June 13 at Pet Pleasers, the non-profit pet supply store the organization operates. Thieves damaged the front door, rummaged through the office and store, damaged the register and stole an unspecified amount of cash, according to Rescue Pup’s Joyce Gonzalez.

Donations can be made at Pet Pleasers, which is located at the corner of 9th Avenue SE and 164th Street SE.

In addition to donations, the organization also needs volunteers to serve as foster homes for dogs it receives.

For more information, call 425-742-6072.

DARE chocolate shield fund-raiser

Mill Creek police are selling police department chocolate shields for $2 to benefit the DARE program.

The shields were made from a mold that was designed with the Mill Creek water wheel and the words “Mill Creek Police.” The shields can be purchased at the police department’s service counter inside City Hall, 15728 Main St.
