Senior Art Show: The Carl Gipson Senior Center offers its inaugural two-day show from 3 to 7 p.m. July 31 and 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 1 at the center on Pacific in downtown Everett. Jerry Newport and Minnie Pohlman are the featured artists and they will show various pieces from their collections. Both artists will be hand during the show to talk about their artwork. Senior center director Debra Loughrey-Johnson said the show is a way to recognize the talent at the senior center and offer people a way to buy inexpensive art from established artists. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend. Entertainment for the event Friday will be provided by Al Pignataro and Saturday by Frank Austad. For more information, call 425-257-8780.

Darrington Art: The fifth annual Big August Hoobajoob art show is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Mansford Grange Hall, 1265 Railroad Ave. Many new works have been specially created for this show.

Fresh Paint: The Festival of Artists at Work is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 15 and 16 at the Port of Everett Marina. The festival encourages visitors to engage with artists and the creative process as they stroll along the waterfront. Guests will see more than 100 artists from throughout the Pacific Northwest, including glassblowing demonstrations at the Mobile Hot Shop.

See works by dozens of artists through Aug. 1. Also showing are works by Everett Community College students and photos from Everett Museum of History documenting the city’s first 50 years. On Aug. 13, the Schack opens the exhibit “Vibrant Matter” featuring 2015 Artists of the Year photographer James Arrabito and sculptor Verena Schwippert. A reception is from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13.

Marni Muir: The Hanson Scott Gallery in Pioneer Square, 312 S Washington St., Studio D, Seattle, is hosting a show, “Intentional Observation,” which includes Edmonds artist Marni Muir. Inspired by reclamation of Edmonds marshlands, Muir combines the use of shibori, silkscreen and a customized palette for dye and over-dye on broadcloth to create a 15-foot representation of a salmon stream. Seattle Art Museum: Go to www.seattleartmuseum.org. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday at 1300 First Ave., Seattle. “Disguise: Masks and Global African Art” is the museum’s summer show.

Bellevue Art Museum: Nathan Vincent’s “Let’s Play War” solo exhibit continues through Oct. 18 at the museum, 510 Bellevue Way NE. The New York-based artist explores the power of fiber to challenge ideas about the codes of conduct still at work within the American domestic landscape. More at www.bellevuearts.org.

Call for art

Camano Island Library: A call to artists for the new library, which will open Aug. 1, resulted in an outdoor sculpture of an eagle by Josh Henrie. Now, the Camano Island Library Friends group is seeking proposals for an indoor work of art. Needed is a two-dimensional piece that will be mounted in the library’s reading room. Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission: Seeking paintings, prints, drawings, miniatures, calligraphy, photographs, 3-D and artisans’ works for its 37th annual Juried Art Show. Over $4,000 in prize money is available. Arts of the Terrace is Sept. 26 through Oct. 10. Deadline is Aug. 30.
