EVERETT — An Everett man landed in jail after allegedly striking two men with his car and threatening them with a machete.

The suspect, 38, was arrested Thursday night for investigation of robbery, assault and possessing methamphetamine.

An altercation was reported early Thursday at Jackson Park off 18th Street in north Everett.

Through an interpreter who could translate Thai, police learned that three men, including two brothers, went to meet the suspect. One intended to pay the Everett man gas money for a recent trip they took to California.

The suspect reportedly was angry. He allegedly removed the machete from the trunk of his car and placed it on the passenger seat.

The suspect then allegedly hit two of the men with his Nissan, causing one of them to roll three times from the impact, according to court papers.

The Everett man then allegedly got out of the car and pulled out the machete, catching up with one of the men who had stumbled in a nearby parking lot.

“Give me the money,” the suspect allegedly yelled.

The man who had fallen pulled $120 from a pants pocket and begged for his life, court records show.

His brother reportedly pleaded with the suspect not to kill the man.

The suspect allegedly lunged at him with the machete and demanded his money as well.

After being given another $90, the suspect allegedly hit one of the men with either his fist or the hilt of the machete and told them to leave before police arrived.

An officer called to the scene noticed wheel tracks in the grass, an overturned rock and pieces of a license plate holder. He found the suspect’s vehicle and matched the broken license plate holder fragments to the missing part of the holder.

When he arrested the man, he found a glass pipe in his pants pocket and a small baggy with a white substance that tested positive for meth, according to court papers.
