Here are five local prep events to keep an eye on this week:
1. Boys soccer: Marysville Pilchuck at Archbishop Murphy, 6 p.m., Wednesday. The two-time defending Class 2A state champion Wildcats will be tested by a good Wesco program. Archbishop Murphy, predictably, is off to a strong start (4-0).
2. Boys golf: Everett Invitational, noon, Thursday. Everett plays host to this five-team tournament at Legion Memorial Golf Course. Jackson and South Whidbey also will be participating, along with Sedro-Woolley and Timberline.
3. Girls golf: Wesco 4A meet, 2 p.m., Thursday, Battle Creek Golf Course. The eight Wesco 4A teams gather at the same location for the first time this spring. Kamiak is the favorite to come out on top.
4. Softball: Snohomish at Stanwood, 4 p.m., Thursday. A young Spartans team is off to a 4-1 start and is on top of the Wesco 3A North standings. Stanwood will see how far it’s come in this game against the defending 4A state champion.
5. Baseball: Lynnwood at Arlington, 4 p.m., Friday. This could be a matchup of the best team from Wesco 3A North and the best team from Wesco 3A South. The Eagles are off to a 4-1 start. The Royals have won their first two games of the season.
