Arlington mayor honors Little League boosters

Arlington Mayor Barbara Tolbert recently honored Mike and Terri Schur with the Mayor’s Volunteer Award. The Schurs run the concession stand for Stilly Valley Little League, working 40 hours a week during baseball season. Proceeds benefit the Little League, helping to buy uniforms and equipment. On July 4, they open up the stand to benefit the Arlington Education Foundation.

Before the Schurs took over as concessions coordinators, the stand made $1,000 to $2,000 per year. Last year, the stand made $12,000.
