You may not get your baby to do calculus, but you might raise a smart child once you know how to make the most of your child’s sophisticated abilities to learn.

John Medina, the New York Times bestselling author of “Brain Rules for Baby: How to Raise a Smart and Happy Child From Zero to Five,” will offer practical advice on the abilities infants, toddlers and preschoolers have to learn.

Medina will speak from 9 a.m. to noon today at Everett Civic Auditorium.

Medina is a developmental molecular biologist and affiliate professor of bioengineering at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He is also director of the Brain Center for Applied Learning Research at Seattle Pacific University, according to his bio.

Cost is $30 at the door. Registration at the door begins at 8:30 a.m.

The Civic Auditorium is at 2415 Colby Ave., Everett.

Child care will not be provided.
