This year’s Snohomish Blues Invasion has an all-star lineup

SNOHOMISH — It’s an invasion all right.

And it’s the best one-day regional music event that’s not a festival. If you love blues, this day is for you.

The annual Washington Blues Society’s Snohomish Blues Invasion begins Sunday afternoon in many of the city’s pubs on historic First Street. The society has presented the popular blues to-d0 since 2009.

Proceeds from the event go to the society’s fund to send entrants to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. The CD Woodbury Trio and the Benton-Townsend Duo will represent the Washington Blues Society at the 2018 blues challenge. These musicians are set to perform at the Blues Invasion.

This year’s all-star Blues Invasion lineup also includes the Stacy Jones Band, Eric Rice, Sheri Roberts Greimes and JoMamma, CC Adams Band, Willie and the Whips, Michelle D’Amour and the Love Dealers, Nick Marden Blues Trio, Jill Newman, The Soulful 88s, Reji Lefleur, Madison Avenue Blues Revue, Donna Dupras, Nick Vigarino, Andrew Norsworthy, Norris and Nicely, and more.

Extra treats this year include appearances by 2016 champions of the International Blues Challenge — Ben Hunter and Joe Seamons, who are performing the night before with Curtis Salgado in Arlington.

Also be sure to catch Rick Jacobson drumming with The Groove Tramps, and an acoustic set from Kevin and Andrew Sutton, Keith Bakke and two-time Hohner Harmonica World Champion and Lee Oskar Harmonicas artist Jim McLaughlin.

The Washington Blues Society also will run a “Best of the Blues Invasion” contest during which fans can vote for their favorite act. The winner will be decided by popular vote and receive a performance slot at the 2018 Taste of Music Festival in Historic Downtown Snohomish.

The event also includes a silent auction of music memorabilia. A $10 donation to the cause provides access to each venue with a wristband. The musicians donate their time, American Music Seattle helps with sound and the Historic Downtown Snohomish group adds support. The Washington Blues Society is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote, preserve and advance the culture and tradition of blues music as an art form.
