Town Halls in Monroe, Granite Falls, Sedro-Woolley

Rep. Carolyn Eslick, R-Sultan, and Sen. Keith Wagoner, R-Sedro-Woolley, will host town halls in Snohomish County on Saturday:

– 9 a.m. at Snohomish County Fire District 7 Station 31, 163 Village Court, Monroe.

– 1:30 p.m. at Crossroads High School, 205 N Alder Ave., Granite Falls.

A third is planned for 6 p.m. at Sedro-Woolley City Hall, 325 Metcalf St.

Grants to preserve historic sites

Learn more about grants that are available for historic barns and cemeteries at a free public workshop set for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Duvall Library, 15508 Main St., Duvall. The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation will discuss the Heritage Barn Preservation Initiative (first hour) and the Cemetery Preservation Program (second hour).

The same workshop will be held 6 to 8 p.m. April 25 at Skagit City School, 17508 Moore Road, Mount Vernon.

WAYS TO HELP

Volunteer at a hospital gift shop

Gift shops at local hospitals raise money for local causes. The gift shop at EvergreenHealth Monroe needs reliable volunteers to work three-hour shifts. The gift shop is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays.

In Everett, the nonprofit Providence General Children’s Association needs volunteers at the Providence Regional Medical Center Pacific and Colby campus gift shops for four-hour shifts, day or evening, two or more times per month. Gift shop proceeds benefit Northwest children in need. Must complete hospital volunteer forms, TB test, background check and training.

Help make music

The Snohomish County Music Project welcomes volunteers. There are opportunities for audio-visual engineers, carpenters, event coordinators, painters and more. The Music Project is a nonprofit whose programs include music lessons for children, and group music therapy for veterans and seniors.
