Snohomish house fire displaces family; no one hurt

SNOHOMISH — A family of three escaped a fire that destroyed their home early Friday.
Smoke alarms awoke the man and his two boys around 4 a.m. in the 1100 block of Lake Crest Drive. Snohomish County Fire District 4 Battalion Chief Craig Heike said no one was hurt.
Fire crews from Lake Stevens, Everett and Monroe responded to battle the flames for about a half-hour. The roof of the single-story house burned and collapsed. Shingles melted on a house to the west, and another home to the east took heat damage.
The main living space of the house is about 1,500 square feet, according to county assessor’s records. It was built in 1999.
Much of the damage was to the back side. That area was expected to be the focus of a Snohomish County fire marshal investigation, Heike said.
The local chapter of the American Red Cross responded to help the family.
The City of Snohomish notified residents that the fire might cause cloudy brown water in the neighborhood. If so, neighbors were advised to run their taps for about 15 minutes, until the color clears.
