Join a rain garden work party

The Snohomish Conservation District hosts a volunteer work party at 4 p.m. Oct. 11 to plant and tour new rain gardens in Bothell. No experience necessary. Gloves and refreshments provided. Meet at 89th Avenue NE and NE 187th Street in Bothell. Participants will be entered to win a rain barrel. Registration is requested. The Snohomish Conservation District has been partnering with King County and the city of Bothell on related projects.

North county candidate forum

The American Association of University Women Stanwood-Camano branch hosts a nonpartisan, all-candidate forum for Camano Island, Stanwood and north Snohomish County. It is set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at Stanwood Middle School, 9405 271st St. Hear candidates and initiative backers speak and submit questions.

The Edmonds Citizens’ Tree Board seeks a student representative. Nonprofit focused on weight loss

Several local chapters of Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), a nonprofit weight-loss club, meet at different days and times across Snohomish County. Meetings include a private weigh-in, peer support, information and awards for progress. First meeting is free.

Self-help groups for those living with multiple sclerosis are available in Snohomish County.
