National parks free all weekend, Forest Service sites free on Monday

This weekend, national parks will be free from Saturday to Monday in honor of Presidents Day. Around here that means Olympic National Park and Mount Rainier National Park. North Cascades National Park is always free.

On Monday, Forest Service lands won’t require a Northwest Forest Service Pass to use Forest Service recreation sites.

Here are the fee-free days on public lands for the rest of the year.

Forest Service fee-free days

On these days, you won’t need a Northwest Forest Pass to use Forest Service recreation sites.

National park free days

On these days you won’t need to pay to visit national parks.

  • Feb. 14-16: Presidents Day weekend
  • April 18-19: Opening weekend of National Park Week
  • August 25: National Park Service birthday
  • Sept. 26: National Public Lands Day
  • Nov. 11: Veterans Day

State Parks free days

On these days*, you won’t need a Discover Pass to visit state parks.

  • March 19: Washington State Parks’ 101st birthday
  • April 4: A spring Saturday free day
  • April 22: Earth Day
  • May 10: A spring Sunday free day
  • June 6: National Trails Day and WDFW Free Fishing Weekend
  • June 13: National Get Outdoors Day
  • August 25: National Park Service’s birthday
  • Sept. 26: National Public Lands Day
  • Nov. 11: Veterans Day
