Man who died in wrong-way crash near Lynnwood is identified

LYNNWOOD — A Snohomish man who died Sunday morning in a crash on I-5 has been identified.
Jose G. Alonso Martinez, 26, was driving a Hyundai Accent in the opposite direction of traffic around 5:15 a.m. when he crashed into a concrete barrier near 212th Street SW in Lynnwood.
After the Hyundai came to a stop, it was struck by a Ford Focus.
Alonso Martinez died from blunt-force injuries, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
The second driver was not injured and his vehicle had minor damage.
