Caring women
100+ Women Who Care About Snohomish County will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Milltown Sailing Association, 410 14th St., in Everett.
New members welcome.
The group meets three times a year with each woman donating $100. The concept is simple and effective: 100+ women times $100 equals $10,000+ to a Snohomish County nonprofit.
Three organizations are nominated and randomly drawn at the meeting. Each group does a short presentation. The women vote and all of the money is given to the nonprofit selected.

#InspireHope2019
Volunteers of America Western Washington will celebrate another year of service at the annual Inspire Hope breakfast, at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday.
The nonprofit will highlight some of the most significant community partners, donors and volunteers, and will report on accomplishments made possible with their support.

County budget speech
Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers is scheduled to release his 2020 budget plan at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Somers will deliver remarks about the proposed budget plan at the first-floor meeting rooms in the county’s Administration Building East, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
The executive’s theme for the 2020 budget is “The Future We Choose: Transformation and Sustainability.” He is expected to make announcements related to public safety, environmental sustainability, housing affordability, economic development and public service.
The County Council has the final say on the shape of the budget and will spend the fall gathering information from different county departments and elected leaders before passing a final version.
Sultan candidates forum

The League of Women Voters of Snohomish County and other civic groups are hosting a candidates forum at Sultan High School at 7 p.m. Monday.
The address is 13715 310th Ave. SE, Sultan.
Invites have gone out to candidates for Sultan city offices and fire commission seats, as well as Snohomish County auditor, sheriff, treasurer and some judge races.
Other sponsors include the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce and Sno-Isle Libraries.
Election Day is Nov. 5.

HEADS UP
Recycling and transfer stations to close early
All three Snohomish County recycling and transfer stations will close 30 minutes early at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for a staff training session.
These facilities will return to normal hours on Thursday.
