Everett man identified after being stabbed to death in fight

EVERETT — An Everett man who was stabbed to death Sunday night has been identified.
Sophan Phal, 35, reportedly got involved in a spat between two groups of girls around 9 p.m. in the 13000 block of Meridian Avenue S, just outside Everett, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The argument escalated. Then two men got out of a vehicle and a fight broke out.
One of the men allegedly stabbed Phal and fled.
Another man suffered a cut near his eye, which was treated at the scene.
An ambulance took Phal to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he died. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office determined he died from a stab wound. His death was classified a homicide.
Detectives were still investigating Wednesday and working to identify suspects, sheriff’s spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said.
