$500,000 available for Edmonds nonprofits

EDMONDS — The city of Edmonds has half a million dollars in Nonprofit Organization Support up for grabs.
“We recognize that certain nonprofits have been particularly hard-hit by COVID, especially anything arts and culture” said Patrick Doherty, the city economic development and community services director.
All Edmonds-based nonprofits are encouraged to request one-time grant funding. The grants are open-ended, but they will be evaluated based on need, he said.
Mayor Mike Nelson will review grants of $20,000 or less, and those that exceed $20,000 will be reviewed by the Edmonds City Council for approval.
The funding comes from the Edmonds Rescue Plan Fund, which the City Council passed on July 20.
Application letters should include the organization’s name, proof of non-profit status, the amount requested, proposed use of the money and a statement of need that addresses other sources of money available. The letter should also include a statement about how the organization enhances Edmonds’ quality of life, culture or economy. Letters, addressed to Doherty, should be postmarked or dropped off at City Hall by 4:30 pm, Friday, Aug. 20.
