EVERETT — The man who was killed in a shooting at an Everett apartment last week has been identified.

Early Thursday, a man called 911 to report his friend had been shot at the Erwin Estates apartment complex in the 8200 block of 11th Drive West, according to police. Officers responding to the scene found a man in his 40s with gunshot wounds to the head.

On Monday, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as Jeremy L. Anderson, 45, of Everett. He was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he later died.

Officers reportedly found bullet holes in the headboard of the common wall shared with Anderson’s next door neighbor, Jeremy Jones. After confronting his neighbor, Jones immediately surrendered and was detained, according to detectives.

Jones had called 911 earlier that night, reporting his neighbor was yelling, “You’re (expletive) dead,” and “I’ve got a gun pointed at you,” according to a police report. Police believe Anderson had been sleeping.

Officers arrested Jones for investigation of second-degree murder. At his first appearance in court Friday, prosecutors suggested $1 million bail. Jones’ defense attorney argued it be lowered to $10,000, citing his history of mental health issues.

Everett District Court Judge Tam Bui agreed with the prosecutor’s recommendation.

Jones remained in jail Monday.
