Chinese rival to Boeing, Airbus to announce first order soon

China will announce the first order for its homegrown single-aisle jet, the C919, next week.

Bloomberg News reports that Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China, known as COMAC, plans to make the announcement at Airshow China, which takes place in Zhuhai next week.

COMAC’s C919 will challenge the Boeing Co.’s 737 and Airbus’ A320 aircraft. The 168-seat C919 is expected to enter the market in 2014.
