Everett’s Intermec Inc. purchased a Massachusetts company Wednesday that provides services for mobile devices used to track corporate supply chains.

The price for Enterprise Mobile wasn’t disclosed.

Intermec, a pioneer in the bar code business, has been evolving into a company focused on producing a variety of products used in warehouses to track inventories.

Enterprise, based in Watertown, Mass., helps companies understand new mobile technologies and provides training, help desk support, equipment replacement and repair.

It will become part of Intermec’s Global Solutions unit led by Larry Klimczyk, vice president.

“Providing comprehensive hardware, software and services is the next level in our transformation of mobile business processes,” Klimczyk said.

He said Enterprise “will prove valuable to our customers as they focus more of their core competencies and outsource mobile device management to Intermec and our partners.”

“We have seen a significant uptick in not only the number of enterprises with large-scale mobile initiatives, but also a much higher degree of complexity requiring support for multiple platforms and a wide array of devices,” said Steve Moore, chief operating officer for Enterprise.
