Airbus has started final assembly work on its first A350 XWB aircraft, the European jet maker said Thursday.
Workers at Airbus’ site in Toulouse, France, are beginning to join the A350’s front and center fuselage sections.
The center fuselage section arrived in Toulouse on Wednesday from Airbus’ St. Nazaire location. The front fuselage, also built in St. Nazaire, was delivered to Toulouse in late December. Airbus said the aircraft’s aft fuselage should arrive in a few weeks from the company’s Hamburg, Germany, location, followed by the wings from its Broughton, UK facility.
This first A350 XWB will be used for structural testing. Airbus expects to start assembling this summer the first A350 that will fly.
