Frontier Bank plans to open a new Bellevue branch, which will be staffed by longtime Bellevue bankers.

The new group will work out of Frontier’s Kirkland branch while the bank scouts for office sites in central Bellevue, Frontier said Monday.

The branch will be the 42nd for Everett-based Frontier.

“We are extremely pleased with the caliber that this team of highly respected bankers brings to Frontier Bank,” president and chief operating officer Lyle Ryan said. “They will provide a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our bank.”

Milton Douglas, a former senior vice president for Wells Fargo Bank, will head the Bellevue office.

Douglas and most of Frontier’s new Bellevue staffers are former officers with Pacific Northwest Bank, which was acquired by the former Oak Harbor-based InterWest Bank in 1998. InterWest took the Pacific Northwest Bank name and moved its headquarters to Seattle in 2000.

In 2003, the bank was acquired by Wells Fargo. Moving to Frontier is giving Douglas and his group a chance to return to their community banking roots, Ryan said.
