The Boeing Co. recently began testing the landing gear on one of the first 787 Dreamliners.
The tests replicate operation of the landing gear as if the Dreamliner were in flight. The gear was raised to a stowed position and then lowered to the landing position, testing the avionics, power systems and hydraulic systems.
Boeing said the nose gear and the main left and main right gear were tested independently and jointly. Boeing intends to put the first Dreamliner in flight by the end of this year. The plane, which has been delayed by about 15 months, has nearly 900 orders.
