Port to send up trial balloon today

The Port of Everett is inviting the public to view a height demonstration project for the north marina redevelopment from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Grand Avenue Park. City officials have called for the height demonstration, which will use poles and balloons to show residents proposed building heights, ranging up to 65 feet, on the marina site. Port representatives will be available to answer questions.
Bakery targets record cinnamon roll
The Mill Creek House of Bread will attempt to bake a 250-pound cinnamon roll next weekend, which would set a new world’s record. The attempt will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 15 at the bakery in Mill Creek Town Center, 15224 Main St. Pieces of the roll will be available to the public during a charity drive.
NYSE to suspend Delta Air shares
The New York Stock Exchange said it plans to suspend trading of Delta Air Lines shares by Thursday. The action follows Delta’s decision to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Sept. 14 and the fact that its average closing price for its shares has been less than $1 for 30 consecutive days. Also on Friday, the Atlanta-based airline said it was resuming its full flight schedule. It has canceled some domestic flights over the past two weeks to conserve fuel.
Bush is studying Greenspan heir
President Bush hopes to pick a successor to Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan as soon as possible, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Friday. Greenspan is expected to end his 18-year run as Fed chairman Jan. 31, when his term expires. There has been speculation that Bush might act as early as this month to select a new Fed chairman to ease the transition.
Renton company recalls crab legs
About 40,000 pounds of red king crab legs and claws sold by Orca Bay Foods Inc. of Renton is being recalled because they may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported. The frozen crab legs were labeled “Orca Bay Seafoods Inc. Renton, WA 98055” and were sold to retailers in 10- and 20-pound lots. While most of the suspect product is in the company’s Washington processing facility, it would have been in stores from May 20 through Aug. 10. Red king crab legs purchased during that time can be returned for a refund, and customers with questions may call 800-932-6722.
