Root Beer Store opens

Lynnwood is the second location for The Root Beer Store. The new location Opened Nov. 3 on Hwy. 99 and 200th just west of the Lynnwood Bowl and Skate.
With nearly 100 different brands of root beer to pick from, The Root Beer Store also offers ice cream and desserts.
“Root beer is uniquely an American flavor,” says Corey Anderson, founder. “It’s our goal to represent as many national brands as we can.”
The Lynnwood location is developing a “pick-n-pour” concept for floats where customers will be given a mug of ice cream and then they can pick any bottle root beer to pour over the ice cream.
Local brewer pours in DC
American Brewing Company was one of only 15 breweries from across the country invited to participate in the 10th Annual Autumn Capitol Hill Beer Tasting for Congressional staff on Nov. 2.
More than 500 attended the event organized by the Brewers Association.
American Brewing Company is a 15 barrel microbrewery located in Edmonds, and is on track to sell 1,500 barrels in its first year of business. They specialize in finely crafted beers that are noted for being well balanced, but with a subtle hoppiness that brew master Skip Madsen is known for.
Hightower winemaker dinner
Winemaker and owner Kelly High-tower will present his Hightower Cellars vintages 6:30 p.m., Nov. 9 at Epulo Bistro, 526 Main St., Edmonds.

Edmonds’ drive-in smashes record
Dick’s Drive-In Restaurants announced that its new Edmonds restaurant smashed the previous all-time records for most burgers sold and total sales.
Edmonds fans on Oct. 21 consumed more than 30 percent more burgers in a single day at a single restaurant in the company’s 57-year history.
Since the grand opening Oct. 20, hungry fans broke hourly sales records and burgers sold, and set a new record for total sales for a single day.
The Edmonds restaurant came close to running out of buns, according to Jim Spady, vice president. “We had to make a couple of bun runs to other drive-ins to keep the burgers going. Our Edmonds team did an amazing job keeping up with the thousands of orders,” Spady said.

Country Village holiday event
Country Village in Bothell will be transformed into a Holiday Wonderland 5 to 8 p.m., Nov. 19 with all of the sights and sounds of the season.
That evening visitors will be able to start their holiday celebrations viewing twinkling lights, roasting chestnuts and seasonal music at the “Taste of the Holidays: Wine Tasting and Open House”.
Twenty Country Village merchants and 20 Washington wineries are pairing up to offer guests special tastes and treats in the shops.
Guests will be able to purchase their favorite vintages from this event for their holiday festivities, including bottles personally autographed by winemakers, at the on-site wine store hosted by the Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation.
Tickets are $20 in advance, and will be sold online through Nov. 17th at www.npacf.org. Tickets will be sold at the event for $25 while they last. Ticket price includes event entry, 10 tasting tickets and treats at the shops. Additional tasting tickets will be sold onsite.
This is an environmentally friendly BYOG event where guest are encouraged to “Bring Your Own Glass” with festive glassware also encouraged.
Proceeds will benefit the Northshore Performing Arts Center.

Gluten-free the quick way
Taco Time is offering four gluten-free items as part of Gluten-Free Diet Awareness Month in November:
• White Chicken Chili – made from scratch with chicken breast simmered in broth with black bean and corn salsa, roasted red peppers, diced green chilies and onions
• Baja Taco – two white corn tortillas loaded with seasoned beef or chicken, Pico de Gallo and freshly shredded lettuce

Two Beers Brewing opening
Two Beers Brewing Co. will cut the ribbon on its newly expanded tasting room and brewery 2 to 7 p.m., Nov. 12.
The event will feature $4 pints and beer-infused food available for purchase from Skillet food truck. Kids and dogs are welcome.
