3-D is the trend in movies

We started with View-Master, then took “The Polar Express” to a place that was “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs,” fell in love with Susan during “Monsters vs. Aliens,” celebrated “A Christmas Carol” and now we have what could be the watershed moment in 3-D cinema: “Avatar.”
Another of James Cameron’s epic good-vs.-evil battles set in a sci-fi fantasy world, “Avatar” is Hollywood’s latest 3-D blockbuster. Industry watchers say it may well unleash a torrent of new 3-D movies. Review the Web chatter to learn that 3-D is entering a new era, as Cameron and other directors want to produce their future movies exclusively in 3-D. Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of Dreamworks’ Animation Department, and producer Pixar have both said that all future releases will be in 3-D. But that’s not all. A-list movie directors such as Steven Spielberg, Robert Rodriguez and Peter Jackson are developing 3-D projects. In fact, more than 30 3-D features are in the planning stages at Hollywood studios. You might see an explosion in the number of theaters adding or scrambling to add 3-D technology, from about 2,000 to about 8,000 in the United States.
