North Cascades Concert Band: The band will perform 7:30 p.m. April 21 at Arlington High School, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd., Arlington. Cecilia Buettgen, a French horn player with the United States Marine Band, is the featured soloist. She will solo in Richard Strauss’s “Horn Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major,” “Blue Skies” by Irving Berlin and “Eternal Father Strong to Save” by Claude Smith. The band will also play music by Aaron Copland, Robert Jager and Benny Goodman. The event is free, but donations are accepted.

Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra: The orchestra will perform Duke Ellington’s “Such Sweet Thunder Suite” at 7:30 p.m. April 23 at Edmonds Center for the Arts, 401 Fourth Ave. N., Edmonds. Ellington composed the suite as his tribute to Shakespeare. Mystical Arts of Tibet: Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery, promoting world peace, will engage in a five-day residence from May 8-12 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N., Edmonds. Program includes performing and visual arts by monk artists who have practiced the ancient and sacred traditions as a way of life. There also will be chanting, music and dance.
