Flaming fall color
Osakazuki is a robust yet small Japanese maple with clean, crisp, bright green foliage that erupts into a flaming crimson color in the fall. Its foliage is resistant to burning in the summer heat and its best color is in full sun. It prefers rich garden soil with good drainage and average water. In its youth, it should grow about 18 inches a year, but it will eventually slow to about four inches per year. It develops into a rounded tree up to 20 feet high with a similar spread in 10 years.
