50 YEARS AGO (1959)
First National Bank of Everett now had more than $65 million in resources. Its directors were J.A. Norway, Wm. G. Reed, L.N. Reichmann, Geo. J. Schuchart, Robert E. Waltz and W. Doyle Watt. Located at the corner of Hewitt and Colby avenues, it had a drive-in branch at 2919 Hoyt Ave. Other branches were located in Lynnwood, Marysville, Snohomish, Monroe and Sultan.
On Monday, a new class got under way at the YMCA pool for men 15 years of age and older. Skin diving or lung diving class was being taught by Bob Anderson, “Y” aquatic instructor.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
This could be a turnaround year for the building trades in Everett, especially if the U.S. Navy picked the city for the home port for its new Puget Sound battle group, Mayor Bill Moore said.
The Bon had everyday low prices on precision haircuts, shampoo and conditioner finishes and perms. All were just $6. This was exclusively at the downtown Everett hair and beauty salon.
