50 YEARS AGO (1958)
George Dubuque was stepping down as county auditor and clerk after 36 years of service. A resident of Snohomish, he was a past president of both the County Clerks and County Auditors associations, had service on the Snohomish School Board, and was active in Masonic lodge work.
Plans for a multimillion-dollar warehouse and shipping building Scott Paper Co. was erecting here were announced by Loren Forman, general manager of Scott West Coast operations. The three-story structure would be just south of the present mill.
25 YEARS AGO (1983)
The Sixth Street Bridge over the Pilchuck River in east Snohomish would remain closed next week for storm sewer construction, according to Renee Estees, engineering technician for the city. People en route to the Maple Avenue area were advised to use the Sexton and Three Lakes roads.
Mr. Steak was offering a New Year’s Eve special feature Steak Oscar for $9.95. It included a top sirloin steak with succulent crab meat, tender asparagus spears, soup or salad, potatoes or rice, and bread. Mr. Steak was located on Evergreen Way in Everett and on 44th Avenue W. in Lynnwood.
