50 YEARS AGO (1960)
When the Everett High School classes of 1934 1/2 and 1935 held their reunion, Alex Dorr Jr. wasn’t in attendance. He was at Colby Manor. Classmates Signa Gorham, Frank Patterson and Wes Brown presented him with a new television from the classes.
A special commissioning service would be held at Everett Temple Baptist Church in the new Lowell School for Jewel Remboldt, who was leaving next week for a five-year missionary service in Africa. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Remboldt.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Michael R. Galvin was new branch manager and vice president of the Everett office of Shearson Lehman Brothers. He had 18 years of experience in the securities businesses and eight years with Foster &Marshall/Shearson. Dan Halligan, former Everett branch manager, was now manager at the Portland facility.
The soup kitchen operated by the Volunteers of America in downtown Everett was closing for the summer because of a drop in the number of persons using the lunch program and a great need for the money in the organization’s food-bank program, according to Bertha Patapoff, director of emergency services for VOA.
