Snohomish distiller Skip Rock Distillers, www.skiprockdistillers.com, recently received a 94-point rating and a gold medal for its Skip Rock Barrel Proof Rye Whiskey in the Beverage Testing Institute’s 2014 International Review of Spirits.
It tied for first with the same distillery that was awarded Whiskey Advocate’s 2013 Craft Distillery of the Year. In its three and a half years Skip Rock is crafting whiskey that ranks with some of the best in the world, noted Ryan Hembree, co-founder and head distiller.
Skip Rock’s Rye Whiskey, 86 Proof scored 93 points and a gold medal. And its Headwaters White Whiskey scored a 91 points and best-buy designation. The Skip Rock tasting room is at 104 Ave. C, Snohomish. Call 360-862-0272.
