Everett artist on HGTV: Northwest garden writer Marianne Binetti tours the Northwest Flower &Garden Show on Home and Garden Television next month on the program “Gardening by the Yard.”
During the show, Binetti stops by Everett artist Connie Eden’s booth and ogles the hand-hewn concrete garden artwork of Eden and Rose. The program is scheduled to air at noon Feb. 16 and 8 a.m. March 9. Find more details on www.hgtv.com. Check the work of Eden and Rose at www.edenandrose.com.
Get in on the gala: The 20th annual Northwest Flower &Garden Show is set for Feb. 20 to 24 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle.
But if you want to do something really special before the show, you might check out Arbor Eden, the show’s annual preview gala set for the night before the big event.
Tickets start at $100 to $150 and include a preview of the display gardens, live music, a silent auction as well as a buffet dinner by Jose Chavez, executive chef at the convention center, featuring tantalizing foods of the Pacific Rim, all from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 19.
Tickets for $250 to $500, known as patron- and benefactor-level tickets, entitle ticket holders to a special event within the event, featuring 4:30 p.m. admission, a champagne reception, a private buffet with special dessert selections, a live auction, complementary parking and a presentation by well-known “plantsman” Dan Hinkley.
Proceeds will benefit the Washington Park Arboretum Foudation.
See www.arboretumfoundation.org or call 206-325-4510 for tickets.
Shop around: The Seattle Design Center will host its annual sample sale from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 2. Floor samples, including furnishings, accessories, rugs and fabric samples, will be available in a range of styles at about 15 select showrooms at the design center, which is typically open only to members of the design trade and their clients.
See www.seattledesigncenter.com or call 206-762-1200 for details.
Watch next weeks’ issue of Home &Garden for a story explaining how the sale works and what kind of discounts will be offered.
