Summer in Snohomish: Hometown charm, art and celebration

HDSA brings small-town summer magic to downtown Snohomish

From hometown parades to colorful murals and lively markets, historic downtown Snohomish is the perfect place to spend a summer afternoon with friends and loved ones.

“Summer in Snohomish has a magic all its own,” says Denya Ardis, Programs & Communication Manager at the Historic Downtown Snohomish Association (HDSA). “As the days grow longer, our little riverside town comes alive with energy, creativity and celebration. Whether you’re here for the day or the whole season, there’s always something to enjoy!”

One of the summer’s most anticipated traditions is Kla Ha Ya Days, running July 18 – 20. As part of the festivities, the HDSA is hosting a weeklong online auction, featuring an online auction July 13 – 20 with special items from local vendors. The fun wraps up with the Downtown Hoedown on July 20 at the Snohomish Carnegie — an evening of boot-scootin’ line dancing and community spirit, all supporting HDSA’s efforts to keep downtown vibrant and welcoming.

“When you support HDSA, you’re helping more than just one event — you’re helping preserve the heart of Snohomish,” Denya adds. “Every dollar raised goes back into the community, helping us keep downtown beautiful, vibrant and rooted in the history that makes this town so special.”

While downtown, don’t miss the Avenue C Mural — a colorful, rotating art installation selected annually through a community social media vote. A selfie station across the street makes it easy to capture the perfect shot.

Do you know the next Ave C mural artist? Submit your design by July 14 for a chance to become a finalist in HDSA’s community vote on social media. Photo courtesy of HDSA.

Share your photo with #avenuecmural — you might even be featured by HDSA. Postcards featuring past murals are available at AnnaMarie Creative Collective and Worthy, two favorite downtown shops. HDSA is currently welcoming submissions from local artists for future mural designs – submit your application online here!

Art lovers can also explore the Snohomish Art Walk put on by Snohomish Art Community on July 24, when shops and galleries stay open late to showcase local creatives. And every Thursday through August, the Snohomish Farmers Market brings the community together with fresh produce, handmade goods and live entertainment.

Whether you’re here for a day or the whole season, downtown Snohomish is where summer memories are made.
